TPGS LIBRARY
In the day of online repositories, it’s tempting to skip the library research, but when we do, we’re selling our ancestors and our research short. Specific ethnic genealogical libraries, including the Toledo Polish Genealogical Society library, have various vital resources for family history researchers that are not available online, or in private collections.
TPGS has acquired many resources that will aid you with your research. Our library collection includes; historical and research books, prayer cards, naturalization indexes and records, yearbooks, obituaries and most importantly baptismal, marriage and death indexes/records. All of these will be crucial to you in identifying your ancestral village.
Our library staff strives to preserve Polish family history and genealogy, plus we give patrons friendly and professional service so each person leaves the library with what they were looking for, and are eager to visit us again.
During the months of March thru June and September thru November, our library is open on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 11:00 to 3:00.
The library is located in St. Michael’s school, 420 Sandusky St. Toledo, Ohio 43611.
You must be a paid member of the Toledo Polish Genealogical Society to have access to our library.
Some services we provide:
- Provide patrons guidance on basic genealogical research methodologies and standards, which will help you become independent researchers.
- We stay abreast of relevant information pertaining to Polish Genealogy research by expanding our knowledge of such records that are available at our library, locally, nationally and also those offered online in the United States and in Europe/Poland.
- We also offer webinars and speakers that will broaden your knowledge of genealogical research and DNA.
